Planning a solar lighting project: what to prepare

Before choosing a solar light, start with the space you need to illuminate and the hours it will be used. A road, a park path and a car park may need different light distributions and operating schedules.

Share the site information

Provide the location, a plan of the area and any existing poles. Note where trees or buildings may shade the solar panels. These details help the design team assess the available sunlight and possible mounting positions.

Define when you need light

Set out the hours of use and any quieter periods when the light level could be reduced. The schedule determines how much energy the system needs to store for the night.

Check the complete system

The lighting study considers the LED power, optics and number of luminaires alongside the solar panel and battery capacity. Reviewing these together helps you choose a configuration suited to the site before installation.
